Dark circles under eyes are an extremely common problem and also a very annoying one. This affects your appearance and to a large extent they make you look much older than your real age. Unfortunately, this is a normal phenomenon to happen and each of us will face with this problem sooner or later. Don’t be frustrated and angry, from a certain point they will be part of our everyday life.
Dark Circles Under Eyes
Before and After

What happens with the skin around the eyes at different ages?
  • Starting from 20 to 25, the first wrinkles or dark circles under eyes may occur.
  • At 30, the skin tissue is more sensible and the elasticity of the lower eyelid is reduced resulting in more visible wrinkles.
  • At 40, skin aging is clearly visible and wrinkles are more visible also.
  • Over 70, the skin becomes highly sensitive due to excessive dryness, irritations and reddish spots can appear.
The sensible skin under the eyes is very thin and therefore very prone to wrinkles which appear because of the following:
  • Poor blood circulation – this causes dilation of blood vessels which become visible;
  • Reduced transport of fluids to the skin;
  • Oxygen transport deficiency – causes tissue damage and swelling;
  • Increased release of proteolytics enzymes – damage of skin tissue;
In addition, external factors such as UV radiation, nicotine, alcohol, daily stress are major contributors to skin aging.

There are three types of dark circles under eyes:
  • Hyperpigmentation – usually occur to women with darker skin and they are caused by the existence of too much melanin
  • Blue veins – occur more to women with lighter skin and are caused by dilation of blood vessels which become visible as the skin around the eyes area is thin
  • Swelling – caused by fluid retention or oxygen deficiency.
The good news is that treating dark circles is a feasible task, because they can be avoided through diet and a change of lifestyle. You can control dark circles under eyes with extra vitamins that you cannot get from meals alone or simple natural remedies for eyes.
