Breathe deeply and relax
Anxiety and irritation are increasing the risk of dandruff
significantly. Every time the immune system is weak, most of the time
resulted from direct effect of stress, the scalp starts to be irritated.
Wash your hair frequently
You may have heard that many scalp problems are aggravated by washing
hair too often. That may be true but not in the case of dandruff.
Dandruff is caused by Malassezia fungus which lives on the scalp and feeds with sebum. If you wash your hair more often, you’ll reduce the sebum and thus reduce dandruff.

Change your shampoo
If the one you are using does not help you get rid of dandruff even
if you use it daily, try a different shampoo. Read the list of
ingredients and choose products that include zinc pyrithione, selenium
sulfide, salicylic acid and ketoconazole.
Use conditioner
This is beneficial if you wash your hair often or when you use
dandruff shampoos. Conditioner will help maintaining the skin and hair
more hydrated.
Try shampoo with tar
This type of shampoo is a dandruff remedy for over 200 years now but
has a very strong odor and can sometimes irritate the skin. Stop using
it if you notice irritation.
Massage your scalp
Shampoo is not just for hair, actually his main purpose is to wash
and clean the scalp, so be sure you massage well the scalp while
applying shampoo.
Do not go to bed with wet hair
Always be sure to dry your hair before going to bed because moisture attracts bacteria and fungi.
Some homemade remedies that proved to work for some members of our website:
Yogurt
Mix an egg with a cup of plain yogurt, apply on the hair and leave it
on for half an hour. After that rinse and wash your hair with a shampoo
for dandruff. You can use this remedy with yogurt only, without an egg.
Lemon juice with coconut oil
Mix lemon juice with a little bit of coconut oil and massage your
hair while applying. Cover it with a towel afterwards and leave it on
for 10-15 minutes. Rinse with warm water in the end.
Apple cider vinegar
I think even your grandmother recommends you this remedy. Put vinegar
in a glass of warm water and apply 5 minutes before you wash your hair
with dandruff shampoo. Twice a week is more than enough for this kind of
treatment.
Thyme infusion
Boil a mixture of 4-5 tablespoons dried thyme and two cups of water
for 10 minutes. When the mixture cools down, massage the scalp and leave
it on for one hour and than wash it.
Aloe vera gel
Apply aloe vera gel on the scalp 10-15 minutes before washing your
hair with shampoo. Used regularly, this treatment proved to work
perfectly.
